PAX East 2012: Humble Hearts Studio Interview; Dust: An Elysian Tail

Walking down and about the show floor of PAX East 2012, The Microsoft booth is one of the first showcases to happen upon. While there were several different new Xbox Live Arcade and Kinect games being displayed, none of them were quite as eye catching as independent developer Humble Heart’s Dust: An Elysian Tail. Getting the opportunity to play the game, I immediately sought out the man behind the experience I just finished having and demanded to question what I played and what we should come to expect to the upcoming summer XBLA release.

PAX East 2012: Pocketwatch Game Interview; Monaco

Traveling along the bend of the Boston Indie Showcase, I happened upon Andy Schatz of Pocketwatch Games and witnessed him display the long developed Monaco for play. I came across the latest project to be released in the series, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, and had the opportunity to have a hands-on preview and discuss details of Final Showdown to find out whether or not this updated version of the game would be worth your time.

The term "Metroidvania" keeps appearing in the gaming world as of late, and nobody would know better than us here at Press Pause Radio. Thankfully, I myself understand, love, and appreciate this oft-cited pseudo-genre. So getting my hands on a quality indie Metoridvania offering with a juicy action-platforming core, a splash of time manipulation, and a pinch shmup bullet patterns? Pure win.

QCF: Colors! 3D (App)

Nobody can deny how Mario Paint (or something like it) would have been an excellent addition to any Nintendo DS unit. Unfortunately, like many other concepts fueled by wishful thinking, it never happened.

Collecting Smiles, however, created the killer painting app we didn’t even know we wanted. Not only does Colors! 3D allow 3DS owners to (finally) doodle like crazy using touch screen controls, but offers legitimately talented artists an excellent avenue to create and display literal works of art.
