QCF: BioMutant

he last decade of gaming has been a veritable smorgasbord of titles to choose from, with a steadily growing hustle of developers working hard to release their big AAA software, and players scrambling to play them. An unfortunate side-effect of that never-ending hamster wheel of cycle is that with so many options, some games are just doomed to be overlooked, and sometimes at no fault of their own either.

Which brings us to Experiment 101’s debut release, BioMutant; a quirky Open-World Action-Adventure title that tries to do way too many things at once in hopes of appealing to a broader base of players. The premise of its Post-Apocalyptic Kung Fu critter tale is certainly one of the more unique games of its kind, sure, but unfortunately, the exotic blend of Fallout meets Planet of the Apes meets Enter the Dragon makes for a bloated melting pot that fails to deliver a consistent flavor in its own right.

QCF: Batman: A Telltale Series Episode 1: Realm of Shadows

here’s always one quality that the Dark Knight has consistently shared with the Man of Steel that has carried on through the ages—their respective civilian identities were the actual alter egos, and not the heroic personas they portray. The reasons behind their conflicted points of identity couldn’t be more different though; Clark struggles to make himself more human in order to seek acceptance from the race he seeks to protect, but Bruce views it as a lost cause, something that he lost that night at the age of eight.

As such, it isn’t often that you’ll see a whole lot, if any focus on Bruce Wayne other than a necessary foil at times to his life as Batman and nothing more. The idea of that part of his life being the focal point of a video game sounds even more absurd when you factor in the notable lack of punching his real life counterpart deals with than his bat-one does.

PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class of 2015

f 2015 was anything for us, it was the year we all had difficulty with being punctual with our shit—definitely our busiest.

Still, we enjoyed it more than we’ve lead on, and a lot of that had to do with the batch of games that were released last year; we got everything from anticipated blockbusters, to surprise smash hits that we’re STILL talking about.

Which leads us to our annual special from, Press Pause Radio—The Golden Zonkies. We’ve recorded a special mega cast where we give our prestigious mark of excellence, a Golden Zonkey, to the game deserving of recognition towards that respective recognition.

Everything from games to events that saw the light of day in 2015, across fourteen different categories, and we have that very list for you here now. We’ll be plowing through a incredible catalog of choices, debating with one another from beginning to end in this epic podcast, each voicing our vote for the winner of its corresponding category.

The only stipulation in the Golden Zonkies, is that any point, a wild card can be suggested by one of the hosts if majority vote dictates that another nomination is more deserving of the award instead of the choices presently casted.

So without further ado, kick up your feet, and saddle in (because this is a long one) and enjoy the show!

Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. QCF: Batman: Arkham Knight

hen Rocksteady defied the odds with their stellar take on the caped Crusader with Batman Arkham Asylum in 2009, the sky was the limit with all of the potential its foundation of gameplay had to expand upon within the rich fiction that the Dark Night’s universe had to offer.

Like, what if we could take Batman out of the Asylum, and onto the mean streets of Gotham city itself, able zoom around the urban crime scene in his trusty Batmobile and everything, with entire skylines to grapple and slink though and all!

Six years, and three entries later, Rocksteady Games drops the latest title to grace the Vigilante’s iconic gaming series that promise to deliver all of that and more; Batman: Arkham Knight, and now that it’s finally here—it’s kind of disappointing that the reality doesn’t live up to the expectations we had with the fantasy all those years ago…
