PPR Presents Play Play: Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker

ne of most celebrated features in Super Mario 3D World were the Captain Toad sections; off-shoot mini-levels that involved the guidance of the intrepid Captain Toad through a gyroscopic stage of obstacles and danger—these sections were really dope.

In our review, George mentioned how this element of the game itself would be strong enough to be its own game; and just like that, as if Nintendo had its own NSA-like surveillance, they put their finger to the dial, and released an entire game centered around the dynamics of Captain Toad, in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.

Join Catie and George as they give us a tour on what may be one of the most underrated exclusives that the Wii U has to offer in this brand new Play Play!

PPR Presents Play Play: Yoshi's Wooly World

lanket out of ten, would blanket again; Nintendo and Good-Feel have dropped an adorable, yarny-ass, yarn take on T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas called Yoshi’s Wooly World, and it’s another one of his cute skirmishes with Baby Bowser.

This game is just too fun to look at.

Ser and George gather round to talk about the yarn dynamics and their role within the game design arc of Yoshi side-scrolling game, along with other features like the Amiibo features, and more.

Who’re we kidding, it’s just a twenty minute video or so of two grown men gushing over how friggin’ kawai Yoshi and his hijinks is; enjoy!

PPR 96

eal life responsibilities be damned! Press Pause Radio is back with another episode on the scene and we got a shit-load to talk about as far as the new trend to hit games in a momentous way in recent months—crowd-funding/sourcing for development.

Between George lamenting the melodramatic tragedy of needing to restrict his salacious hand tugging in the shower, to Andrew coining the new hashtag that no one ever asked for or wanted (#WWOD), and then there’s Ser purchasing a Wii U lot that came with a bunch games that were actually released this generation.

We toss about the use of Kickstarter, IndieGogo, the inception of FIG, and all that—the act if giving money to an entity that defines are interest in these dumb things that we call video games is quite the hot button of discussion to be having.

Until Dawn, Beyond Eyes, Submerged, Super Mario 3D World, Destiny, The Witcher 3, Tembo The Bad-ass Elephant, Rare Replay, Battletoad butts, and just, so much, more!

Just listen to it already, I think we’ve covered enough don’t you?

PAX PRIME 2014: Searching for adventure in Captain Toad's Treaure Tracker

henever I think of must-own games for the Wii U, Super Mario 3D World immediately comes to mind, and my absolute favorite thing about the game has nothing to do with the main game at all.

Nope, the one thing I praise about it before anything else are the Captain Toad levels, the endearing yet immaculately crafted collection of distractions from 3D World’s main game that surprisingly became one of its biggest highlights. So when Nintendo announced that the adorable adventurer would be getting his own title later this year, I naturally became a little more than excited.

The big question though is whether or not Nintendo can really pull off an entire games-worth of content around the quirky puzzle-based dynamic of Captain Toad. The answer is a resounding, obnoxiously loud yes guys and gals, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker could very well be one of the most whimsically charming games that the Big N has crafted in years.
