PPR Presents Super Play: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero Part 1

all us a one-hit-wonder because man has it been awhile since we’ve published a Play Play video, let alone a SUPER Play—that’s right, a full-on Playthrough, and not just any playthrough either…

We’re diving into one of the worst games of the fifth generation—Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Join George and Sean as they wax poetic about how much they either love, or hate this game, because sure, while its way to dark and grainy to look at a lot of the time, it’s hard as shit, and cheap too, but they can’t stop coming back for more!

This is the first half of the session, where we manage to reach the halfway point of this abysmal spinoff—join us as we try to determine just why this is Georgie’s favorite Mortal Kombat game.

PPR 118

hange is good, right?—it’s scary sure, but if we don’t give the chance to try something different, then how can we really say that we’ve grown?

In this episode of Press Pause Radio, we’ll be debuting a new format that’s going to be different from the one we’ve done the last ten years. Instead of catching up on all the news and games that have happened between shows before the chosen featured topic, we have decided to release each of these segments as a dedicated episode in their own right, including the featured topic, with a projected weekly schedule in mind.

This new direction will not only cut down the average length of a Press Pause Radio episode from 2-3 hours down to a little over an hour at most, but it’ll also allow us to produce more content for you guys more seamlessly. We hope that this change will allow us to be the best version of what we aspire to be, because as it stands now, publishing episodes in the giant clusters that we have the last few years or so hasn’t done us, or you guys any favors.

So to start off, we’re starting Episode 118 with the news; we’ll be discussing the Super Mario Sunshine rumors, PS5 Patent reveals, various gameplay reveals at this past Gamescom, Bathwater Pyramid schemes, and a whole lot more.

Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. Finally, make sure to rate and subscribe to us on iTunes and YouTube, follow us on Twitch page and Twitter, and finally take part in our Facebook and Steam group!

PPR Presents Play Play: Mortal Kombat X

The amount of progress that Netherrealm Studios has accomplished with the Mortal Kombat brand and it’s respective fighting engine is something that no one can deny. I mean, no other game has passionately embodied the phrase “shit gets real” quite like Netherrealm’s current offering, and we decide to get in on the madness.

Getting in on the cutting edge action of MK X, we discuss the visceral visuals of the franchise hitting the latest generation of gaming and the tech it offers, the evolution of the Kombat system (seriously, we can’t help ourselves) and the shelf life that X may just have for the year of 2015. It’s another Play Play, so kick up your feet and press that play button already.

PPR Presents Play Play: Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection

here aren’t too many examples of a celebratory games that’re loaded with a tribute tour through all the best hits that made you what you are quite like Mortal Kombat Kollection…well, actually—scratch that.

There are a SHIT load of titles that are like that, and yeah; MK Kollection is ok or whatever when it comes down to it.

Join Andrew and George as fight down memory lane and spill all the digitized blood that they can as they discuss the history of Mortal Kombat Kraze (see what we did there) and share their own thoughts and attachment to the franchise at the start of our special look at the classic crimson-soaked tournament brawler on PPR’s Play Play!

PPR 5th Year Anniversary Special: Mortal Kombat Commentary

ver since we started doing one of these every 12 months, we’ve not only received requests to do it from you guys, but we’ve personally also enthusiastically tossed the idea of recording an episode around this film; Mortal Kombat.

Join Georgie, Ser, Andrew, and Ser as we romanticize the only claim to fame Robin Shou can brag about on his IMDB page, and talk about other things too like Shokan nards, Jag, Legends of The Hidden Temple, Billy Zane and his twin, who would win in a real fight between Christopher Lambert and James Remar, and more.

I know we’ve said it before (and will most likely say it again the actuall anniversary podcast), but the countless nights of editing, writing, laughing, and crying would not have been possible without you guys—I’m sincerely grateful for everyone who has supported us. The T-shirts and posters are still being made but will hit the store really soon (we’re really sorry about the wait!) I’m truly blessed to have PPR, all of us here are, and it’s all thanks to you lovable shmucks.

Portal 2 Incident: Video Games and Public Outrage

A YouTube video with the news broadcast mentioning Portal 2, and the controversy involved with a questionable quote from the game has officially gone viral, with over 200,000 views following its upload to the site on May 18. The conflict in question originated from North Carolina, where Neil Staple and his 10-year-old adopted daughter were simply playing the game, as they came across a savagely hilarious taunt ("Fatty... fatty fatty, no parents") from a robot antagonist in the game. Staple viewed this as a direct insult to adopted children and adoptive parents everywhere, claiming how this kind of dialogue was completely uncalled for, even though he and his daughter had enjoyed the rest of the game.
