PPR Presents Play Play: Super Mario 64: Last Impact

ts been 20 years since the Nintendo 64 came into being, and while some of us may not have been as excited as a screaming kid in his pajamas on Christmas morning for it, you can’t deny the last impression that it’s left on the video games, even after all of this time.

Case and point, someone just released a modified version of Super Mario 64, and the effort he put in to it could only be described as a true labor of love. Titled Last Impact, this version introduces 130 new stars set in brand new level, with 12 power-ups hailing from a plethora of Mario’s various adventures over the years, all done within the original engine of Super Mario 64.

George decides to give it a solo look, and see what all the fuss is about, you guys can also find links for it here, and check it out yourself before Nintendo’s legal team decides to go ham on the whole thing (pretty surprised that they haven’t so far to be honest.)

PPR Presents Play Play: P.T.

his shit is still scary, and off putting, and man, just;  it’s just weird that this one demo had SUCH an impact upon the gaming industry and what we ever imagined scary games could be.

It also was the first sign of troubled waters between Kojima and Konami.

George and Andrew walk through this nightmare-fueled hallway a bunch of times (THIS IS NOT A WALKTHROUGH) and just talk about how the cancellation of this game lead to Alison Road, and Resident Evil 7 (we’ll be releasing that one soon too.) Here’s the latest Play Play!

PPR Presents Play Play: Skylanders Superchargers

hile the announcement of Skylanders Imaginators (or Imagineers, George keeps mixing it up honestly, and he’s one we expect to keep better track of that shit) was a bit expected and yet still surprising all at the same time—mostly to the reveal of a certain iconic gaming mascot making a cameo.

The Imaginator gimmick seems like a hodgepodge of the Trap Team gimmick, and that sound like an awesome return to form, because like Banjo Kazooie, these critters had their own car “phase” in Superchargers.

Join Ser and George as they talk about how the Skylanders series hasn’t slowed down for the last 5 years, and whether or not that this is good thing; and a bunch of grown men groaning on about hard it still is to buy children’s toys, plenty of that too in this new Play Play.

PPR Presents Play Play: Killer Instinct-Season 3

he torch has been passed once again, and now it would appear that Iron Galaxy will carry on the support and development to the latest episodic entry into Microsoft’s exclusive modern fighting franchise with Killer Instinct Season 3—and thankfully enough, it’s just as exciting, if not even more enjoyable than ever before.

And honestly, how could you not freak out about a game where you can play as a Battletoad that gets to up on the Anti-hero from Halo 2; shit’s dope y’all.

Andrew and George hash out their thoughts on this new edition of KI, the state of the Fighting Game scene; including how badly they wanted to like Street Fighter V more than they actually did, and more in this latest Play Play from Press Pause Radio.

PPR Presents Play Play: Overwatch

hen you’ve got a game that’s so hot that it becomes a trending search term on the word’s number one free porn site, you know that you’ve got more than GOTY contender on your hands. Overwatch is sweeping the masses across console screen, and PC monitor alike, and we’re still blown away that this gem came out of Blizzard—it’s still crazy when you think about it!

George and Andrew took some time to capture some play time before the launch of Overwatch, and we’ve decided to make it a Play Play; expect the proper review to follow later this week!

PPR Presents Play Play: Hyper Light Drifter

he Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past is one of most influential games in history, a masterpiece that will stand the test of time as one of the iconic showcases of game design. As such, it’s only natural that it would inspire the generation of games that followed its prime, and one day, there’s going to be a game that will outshine it.

Hyper Light Drifter isn’t that game mind you, but God Damn is it ever close to accomplishing that.

George takes full command in this edition of Play Play where plays through the beginning of Heart Machine’s love letter to ALTTP, and goes on about the delicately brilliant nuances to this title’s ebb and flow, and hauntingly beautiful Éric Chahi-like pixel animation, and art.

PPR Presents Play Play: Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker

ne of most celebrated features in Super Mario 3D World were the Captain Toad sections; off-shoot mini-levels that involved the guidance of the intrepid Captain Toad through a gyroscopic stage of obstacles and danger—these sections were really dope.

In our review, George mentioned how this element of the game itself would be strong enough to be its own game; and just like that, as if Nintendo had its own NSA-like surveillance, they put their finger to the dial, and released an entire game centered around the dynamics of Captain Toad, in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker.

Join Catie and George as they give us a tour on what may be one of the most underrated exclusives that the Wii U has to offer in this brand new Play Play!

PPR Presents Play Play: Transformers Devastation

othing rang more true than the slogan “More than meets the eye” with Transformers, like how many MORE chances are we expected to give the property producing a worthy game adaption that’s both fun, and authentic to the robot car brand of action that it’s famous for.

Sure, there may have been some fun titles here, and there, but of it is forgettable at best, and major poop from a butt at worst; that’s why Platinum’s take on the franchise with Transformers Devastation is nice breath of fresh air for once.

Join Transformers mega fan Catie, as she, and low-key closet Autobot admirer Georgie go town with the latest action game in this week’s Play Play—shit’s weirdly more intense than we thought it would be too, enjoy!
