QCF: Antlion Pro Gaming MM-28 Über-wide Mousepad
ou need a mousepad that's three feet wide. There's not much to mousepads these days that could possibly warrant a huge review, but by gum, I'll try. The Antlion Pro Gaming MM-28 Uber-wide Mousepad is a full 3-foot by 1-foot mousepad that is pretty much as great as it is excessive. As an optical mouse user, I never pondered the need for a mousepad in general and have not even used one for the better part of a decade.
So what makes this one the one to get? Why go from nothing to the whole thing? And seriously, three feet?
Well, the MM-28 Uber-wide mousepad is constructed from a number of synthetic materials that obviously make for a comfortable PC session, whether it be for gaming or editing or both. The bottom side of the mousepad is made of a decent, flexible rubber material that offers a grippy surface that keeps the mousepad from moving around, which is super helpful for those that find themselves in an intense editing sesh. Or deathmatch, that too. The Speed Cloth top allows for very smooth mouse drag and a precise read surface for optical mice, laser or otherwise.
And for those of you dinosaurs out there that somehow still use a ball mouse on your old DOS PCs or even - gasp - Windows '95, the MM-28 still has you covered, as its surface allows for smooth ball roll and light grip.
The MM-28 is very comfortable to use with a sewn edge all around its lengthy borders and a soft, almost plush surface tension that reduces strain on the wrists without the need for a foam blister.
Because it goes on for days, players can more or less cover an entire desk area to include their keyboard, microphones and more. In our case, it works as an amazing surface for unboxing and demonstrating tech and providing a soft, secure surface for rare retro consoles during live streams. It's just perfect for a super-wide (ha) range of applications. Better still, the Fast Cloth surface wipes off very cleanly and easily, allowing for a fresh clean surface with next to no effort.
It also looks spectacular once it's where it needs to be, adding an elegant, matte black surface to your old, boring, likely scuffed and damaged desk-top. Of course, this also means that if you're one of those people that needs to have a pristine-looking, polished desk at all times, the MM-28 makes for a marvelous mega-god-coaster to keep your keyboard and other desk bits from wrecking your flawless, mirror-like work surface. Exquisite. It's also sure to keep the wear and tear to the bottom of your mouse - or mice - to a minimum, thanks to its comfy soft surface. It's a win/win/win!
So how much does a top-quality mousepad that provides miles (figuratively speaking) of comfort and precision cost? Fifty dollars? Forty? Thirty-five? How about $26.87? No, the MM-28 is a mere - hold on to your butts - $20.00 on Antlions website. So yes, you do need a mousepad that is three feet wide. Aesthetically, functionally and economically, you just can't do better for 20 bucks. Get it.
