PPR Presents Limelight: Sea of Thieves Beta Part 2

s we close in on the release date for the Microsoft exclusive Sea of Thieves, the fine people at Rare are allowing our ships to leave the harbor one more time in another closed beta this weekend. Please join our resident pirate-in-training Toast as he attempts to find treasure and avoid being puked on as we sail on the high seas. One thing to keep in mind is that Rare has specifically rolled out this closed beta as a stress test so expect some choppy waters as we say in the pirate business. I know that pun was from the last stream but I will keep on using it until people start getting mad at me. The stream will begin at 11pm Eastern 8pm Pacific time, and if any of our community are playing in the closed beta and would like to take on the adventure together look for Toast PPR.

PPR Presents Extra Life 2014: Final Fantasy III

t’s that time of year again, and as we gradually approach the holidays, it’s important to remember that this season isn’t easy for everyone, especially children with health issues. So, with that said, Press Pause Radio is proud to be part of the annual Extra Life charity event for 2014.

We’re on a mission to lend our voices and minds to help the children in this year’s Extra Life Charity, and we need you. By tuning in, and watching us stream one of the most classic RPG’s of all time, Final Fantasy III on the SNES, for 24 hours straight. We humbly ask for your donation towards the Children's Hospital of Central California.

On October 25th, 2014, Press Pause Radio will be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds from video games to board games and tabletop RPG's!

So here’s how you can help. Watch the stream here or on our Twitch page, and then visit us here on Extra Life and donate anything you can for the kids—your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids, so help us get there folks. The more you donate, the more leverage you get for any stupid, dumb, (but reasonable) you might have for George to do in, or out of Final Fantasy III, for 24 hours. Again, any help that you’re willing to donate is greatly appreciated, and will all go to a great cause! Thank you, get started on donating and catch us here on Oct. 25th!

PPR Presents Burger Time: World Kitchen

e’ve been doing Press Pause Radio for a really long time, and within that time, I’ve been able to accomplish a lot of things that were mere fantasies in my teenage youth, and I couldn’t be happier—but I’m hungry, and I think it’s high time I try to chase another fantasy of mine.

The culmination of Ser earning the number one spot on Raiden Fighters Jet’s Global Leaderboards, and my time with King of Kong has moved me into chasing towards my own spot in the superfluous echelon of holding a world record high score in a video game—and that games is one of my personal favorites, Burger Time.

The top 6 best scores of the world is currently curated on Twin Galaxies, with the top ranking score clocking in at 2,078,500 by a Mr. Matthew Grimm, while the bottom of the list sits at 7,800, belonging to Geoffrey Lin. For the next sixty days, I’m going stream a weekly attempt on Thursday night around 8:30 PM or so, and essentially strive to either take the top spot, or at the very least, try to beat out one of the remaining five scores for their spot among the list.

So naturally, I figured that this would make for an ideal feature for Press Pause Radio, where I could stream my efforts, and then chronicle the results of my crack at the score, making notes of what did or didn’t work in hopes that I’ll do better for the next run. So there you have it, I hope to have you guys cheer me on and watch from the comfort of Twitch, or troll on the whole thing all together, I don’t really give a shit as long as you guys sit back and watch!

Press Pause Radio Meet Up at PAX Prime 2014!

nother year, another trip to some far off, mystical, big city that’s playing host to one of the most anticipated events in video games today; PAX Prime. We’ll be doing the usual coverage and sorts sure, but this year, after we’re with working hard—we want to play hard.

Shit, no, wait…

That sounded weird didn’t it? Whatever, don’t make a case out of it or anything!

Anyway, after all the bouts of scrambling from appointment to appointment, rendering video, and all of the other nonsense, Ser and I are going to saddle up at the Gameworks down the street with some friends, and we’re inviting YOU to join us!

The address is 1511 7th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101, and the time is 8:30 PM, Saturday night. We’ll be drinking, laughing, playing arcade games, and any tabletop games any of you want to bring, along with a sneak peak at Shark & Shark’s Kickstarter project, Flocks and Flyways (you guys should totally back it too!)

We’re looking forward to seeing you guys there! Stay tuned to the site for our coverage too, because, we’ll be doing it, and stuff.

PPR Presents LimeLight: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

here’s a whole lot of buzz on the web on whether or not Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is just a glorified demo; after much deliberation (not a whole lot) we decided that instead of reviewing Ground Zeroes, We’ll cover it a different way—stream the shit out of it for Limelight.

You guys can tune in (and subscribe to us while you're at it) Sunday, March 23rd, at 7:00 PM pacific time and join us in the chat, and hopefully, do everything that we can, and not beat the damn thing on the actual stream.

PPR presents Limelight: Kirby's Dreamland 3

t’s a shame when there are games that release during those weird time windows or conditions that subject it to the depths of obscurity; and one such game is one of the best starring Nintendo’s pink stud.

Kirby’s Dreamland 3 was released back in 1997 on the SNES, more than a year after the release of the ongoing and mind-blowingly advanced Nintendo 64—it’s a real shame a lot of people haven’t played it, let alone heard of it. That’s why we’re taking it upon ourselves to stream it with George taking the lead, and fret not guys, if you’re loving what you’re watching then you can find the gem on the Wii U’s Virtual Console the Kirby Anniversary Collection on Wii.

You guys can tune in (and subscribe to us while you're at it) around Sunday evening, March 2nd, at 6:00 PM pacific time and join us in the chat as we get adorable as fuck with some 16-bit crayon effects!

PPR Presents Lime Light: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

hanks to the work of one incredibly talented artist by the alias of bWWd and his team of contributors, all of the boys and girls who drove their parents crazy with their expensive fascination with Eternia can now rejoice; there’s a fucking He-Man and the Masters of the Universe beat’em up game—and it’s beautiful.

Toast takes the lead, as George joins in to wax nostalgia and marvel at one of the most impressive fan projects that we’ve discovered in the Del Quattro yet! You guys can tune in (and subscribe to us while you're at it) around Wednesday evening, January 15th, at 7:30 PM pacific time and join us in the chat as we lay down our lives for the power of Grey Skull!

For James: Earthbound Bash-Nov.29th-Dec.1st

arlier this year, Ben Bizzle, a good friend of both myself and the rest of Press Pause Radio expressed a goal he had in mind to help benefit a dear friend of his who showed him selfless kindness in their past and it’s my pleasure to write for you all in this post that he’s succeeded. James Hensiek, Ben’s friend and co-worker had once given him a pristine and complete copy of Earthbound, and never asked for anything in return other than the sight of Ben’s excitable appreciation; year later however, has unfortunately been diagnosed with rectal cancer, and it’s taken a toll on him alongside of his friends and family. Ben just couldn’t stand by without doing something to help him—one faithful car drive gave him an idea that would return James kindness full circle.

With the assistance of Reed Young of Starmen.net/Fangamer.com and months of preparation, the guys were able to secure Shigesato Itoi’s support by signing the very same copy he had received from James. This autographed copy with value that stretches on all angles of novelty to a heartwarming story of altruism and friendship will auctioned it off to a lucky collector who can also do their part to help out a good cause—all proceeds from the auction will go to James and his family.

To celebrate their accomplishments thus far and push the potential of the auction as far as it goes, Reed and the gang have organized an event called Earthbound Bash. Featuring appearances from Marcus Lindblom, the original localization director of Earthbound to Anthony Carboni of Rev3 Games and self-proclaimed Earthbound nut, these guys plan to party like it’s 1995 in eight days. Keep an eye on the site from the dates of Friday, November 29th to Sunday December 1st for 6 hours of streaming that starts at Noon Pacific/3PM Eastern.  During that time, you’ll be able to bid towards the famous signed cart, and other Eartbound themed swag through out the event, stop Gyigas!
