on’t have a cow man! We get that America’s favorite dysfunctional family may have hit a slump in the ratings as of late, but doesn’t mean that we’ve completely fallen out of love with the people of Springfield and their crazy misadventures. In fact, there hasn’t been a more noticeable void in gaming than the lack of Simpsons games—like, the only way you’re going to get your fill right now is through the expensive toy add-ons of Lego Dimensions, or the casual mobile app Tapped Out.

It’s a real bummer that we’re on the 28th season of the show, and that there hasn’t been any plans from EA to do anything with the license, and even to this day, Video Games owe a lot to The Simpsons.

Join George, Andrew, and Ser as they talk about their experiences with the older Bart-centric games, and the various titles we’ve seen come out of the property, among other important gaming commentaries that the show has covered in its near thirty-year run on television. The gang also talks about the discontinuation of the NES Classic, the disaster of Fyre Festival, the 2DS XL, Jack Bros, Nintendo Switch Sales, Destiny 2, Flinthook, Yooka-Laylee, the disappointment of the Wii U, and more on 103rd episode of Press Pause Radio!

ver hear the saying when you were young that it’s no fun to stay in the same place for too long because there’s a whole world out there waiting for you? Especially when you were told to go outside more, and to play video games? Funny to think back on that now that the last few generations of games have been able to give that same sort of rush all from within the comfort of your own home.

And even then it isn’t always comforting when we have to spend the next 10 real world minutes to get to some dumb vantage point.

This week on Press Pause Radio, we’ve finally gotten the opportunity to embark on the next instalment in The Legend of Zelda series, and the experience has been nothing short of magical. It got us thinking about the current climate of the open-world genre in gaming, and how much more we’re seeing them in the current wave of software.

We also talk about Lego Dimensions, Dollar stores, Horizon Zero Dawn, CW’s Riverdale, Destiny, Mass Effect 3, Night In the Woods, Super Bomberman R, our impressions of the Nintendo Switch and more—nothing short of being a packed episode from us per usual!

PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class of 2016

e’re not going to sparse words here guys, 2016 sucked; for a lot of reasons. Despite the fact that it wasn’t the best year for a lot of reasons, it sure did have a lot of good going for it in terms of video games. VR officially launched across both PC and console, mobile games made their presence know more than any other time before it, and Nintendo finally spilled the goods on their upcoming console with the reveal of the Nintendo Switch.

So, while we all happily say good bye and welcome 2017 with open arms, remember that there were some cool games and releases that made our little hobby pretty rad; and we’re going to celebrate that with this episode!

That’s right, you guessed it, it’s Press Pause Radio’s annual awards show—The Golden Zonkies!

We’ve recorded a special mega cast where we give our prestigious mark of excellence, a Golden Zonkey, to the game deserving of recognition towards that respective recognition.

Everything from games to events that saw the light of day in 2016, across fourteen different categories, and we have that very list for you here now. We’ll be plowing through a incredible catalog of choices, debating with one another from beginning to end in this epic podcast, each voicing our vote for the winner of its corresponding category.

The only stipulation in the Golden Zonkies, is that any point, a wild card can be suggested by one of the hosts if majority vote dictates that another nomination is more deserving of the award instead of the choices presently casted.

So without further ado, we present to you all Press Pause Radio’s Golden Zonkies, class of 2016! Enjoy the show!

ow many times have you been told that a video game has to be played above all else, a game that has to be experienced to be believed, or something that made you feel like you were playing with power, or loud?

Hell, what about all things that it does that the other games just don’t, and the nonsensical screaming and camera shaking that followed… If you recall any of the reminiscent of the aforementioned occurrences that were described, then you my friend may have bared witness to the infamous “video game commercial.”

While we discussed what the effects of a hype train can hold, the publisher-funded adverts that’re pushed down our throats to refurbish that same sort of sensation may be going the way of the memory card before we know it. The gang gets together to discuss some of the commercials that they remember, and the effects that they had along with the shifting climate of game advertisement and more along with all the latest news and announcements that have been dropped as of recent.

We’re talking Red Dead Redemption 2, the Voice actor strike, Skylanders Imaginators, Layer Section II, Burly Men At Sea, Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, The Nintendo Switch, Destiny: Rise of Iron, the PS4 Pro, which movie is better between Super Troopers and Beerfest, and more!

So start listening, and get N or get out, or whatever, no one’s really forcing you honestly…

WWWWWWW SHIT YOU GUYS! Did you hear? No really, did you hear! That one thing that’s coming out, it’s going to be so rad, like; the…RADDEST! No foolin’ I mean, err, wait what, you mean that it’s actually not as cool as I thought it was going to be.

Wait, wait, now you’re telling me that it sucks—oh….

Oohhhh

On our hundredth (yeah, our official one-hundredth episode) we go on to talk about the unavoidable phenomena that is hype, and how it usually gets spearheaded in our face within our screens, phones, timelines, and worst—your fellow people. In addition, we decide to pit Candy Apple Faygo and Lime & Cucumber Gatorade against each other, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Sun/Moon, Gamescom, Metal Gear Survive, Inside, Galaga Wars, No Man’s Sky, Tekken 7, WarFrame, the leaked PlayStation 4 Slim, AM2R, and so much more.

It’s another long one you guys, settle in, and grab the right drink, (you know which one) as you listen to us on our “hundredth” show!
